2026/2027Beyond the rapids
Sixteen days upriver on the Inírida: remote communities, immense lagoons and the Guacamayo rapids. We sleep in tents, move camp and fish where almost no one goes.
Angler-in-chief
An expedition for those who venture beyond.
Alto Inírida is a journey into a river that challenges you from the beginning. Deep in Guainía, its waters connect remote communities, immense lagoons and powerful rapids. Traveling upstream takes preparation and experienced local boat operators who understand its currents. For anglers willing to make the journey, every crossing opens another stretch of water to explore.
This expedition began with a request from returning clients: to go farther upriver. Over three expeditions, that idea became the route we follow today. Together with local communities, we learned where to fish, when to move and how to travel through this remarkable territory.
Beyond the rapids lie lagoons stretching six or seven kilometers through the forest. At Guacamayo, the river reveals its power in an unforgettable setting. From Punta Pava to these upper waters, then downstream through Bakiro, each stop brings different fishing opportunities and another way to experience the river.
Getting here is part of the adventure. After arriving in Bogotá you’ll fly to Puerto Inírida and begin the ascent by boat. We sleep in tents, move camp, share meals and settle into the rhythm of life along the river.
We travel with experienced local people and deep respect for their communities and territory. Some days demand effort. Others leave you quietly watching the water, grateful to be there. Together, they create an expedition that challenges you, brings you closer to life’s simplest things and gives you reasons to return.
